I am so glad to share with you this recent Official Press from Quinlan Road

Loreena announces fall tour in Québec and Ottawa
Montréal pre-sale starts today!

August 15, 2012

Quinlan Road is excited to announce some upcoming concerts in the province of Quebec and Ottawa between Dec 1 and Dec 10.

As the details continue to be finalised for other cities, we are pleased to announce that Loreena will be presenting a concert at Place Des Arts in Montreal on Dec 6, 2012. Pre-sale tickets are available now.

Accompanied by four of her longtime colleagues, violinist Hugh Marsh, guitarist Brian Hughes, cellist Caroline Lavelle and hurdy-gurdy player / percussionist Ben Grossman, Loreena’s program will consist of music from across her “eclectic Celtic” catalogue of recordings including her most recent studio recording, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, as well as some lesser-known, seasonal carols. Woven into this intimate evening, Loreena will share some of the stories and travels behind her songs… a pursuit of the Celtic story which encompasses her journeys to Ireland, Brittany, Russia , Turkey, Mongolia, China, and beyond.

“I’m very much looking forward to sharing some of the more intimate material. I have always loved playing with the larger band (performing songs like The Mummers Dance, etc.) and will do so in the future,” says Loreena. “These concerts, however, are intended to be a much more personal experience, which will have a different focus in terms of songs and arrangements. And it will be a pleasure to include some seasonal works, which I haven’t had the opportunity to perform in the past.”

As always, QR Community Members are the first to be informed of tours, pre-sale opportunities, new releases and special events. Visit our pre-sale page to purchase tickets for the Montreal show today. Regional email updates will be sent as the remaining dates begin pre-sale. If you reside outside Quebec and Ontario, we encourage you to visit this exclusive, members-only page regularly, for further updates.

Tickets for Loreena’s hometown concerts on sale now…

Hot on the heels of a sold-out, 32-concert European tour this spring – and before launching a second wave of European touring in July – Loreena will perform two shows in her hometown of Stratford, Canada. On Monday June 11 and Tuesday June 12 she and her seven piece band will perform in the beautiful and historic Knox Presbyterian Church in downtown Stratford.
“I am delighted,” says Loreena, “that the stars have aligned and enabled me to arrange these hometown concerts and to share my music with family and friends who have not had the opportunity to see a live performance for quite some time.” These will be Loreena’s first shows in her hometown since 2009, and along with a Toronto performance the following day, will likely be her only appearances in Canada this year. Loreena announces summer tour plans (Official Press)
Eight more performances in Germany!

March 1, 2012

Loreena has just announced A Midsummer Night’s Tour, her second tour planned for this coming spring and summer. It includes eight performances in Germany between July 16 and July 24, many of them in outdoor venues and historic sites, including a 1600s Renaissance fortress and a floating stage on the Rhine River. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now, for members of the Quinlan Road Community.

Loreena’s summer tour will have a different musical flavour than her recently announced spring Celtic Footprints Tour and will incorporate more of the Celtic-related Eastern influences. “I’m thrilled to be coming back to Europe again this summer and sharing a different kind of performance,” says Loreena, “Many of the concerts will also be outdoors, which creates a unique atmosphere and experience for both the audience and the musicians.”

A Midsummer Night’s Tour will encompass Cologne, Berlin, Dresden, Lorrach, Mainz, Wurzburg, Munich, Gelsenkirchen and includes a performance at the Cambridge Folk Festival, one of the longest running and most famous folk festivals in the world. As you know from earlier dispatches, Loreena recently announced her Celtic Footprints Tour, a 32-performance, 11-country spring tour that kicks off March 17 in Switzerland and winds up April 27 in Spain. That tour, which includes 12 performances in Germany, will pay homage to the more traditional roots of Celtic music, celebrating the many Celtic ‘footprints’ throughout Europe. Many of those concerts are sold out or are close to sold out.

" A Seasonal Reflection" by Loreena McKennitt

LoreenaGreetings to you all… I would like to share with you these personal reflections by Loreena McKennitt posted on December 16, 2011 – Official Press

Peace and light ☼
Dear all,

As we make our way through one more year no doubt many are reeling from the uncertainty and difficulty of the way our lives have become. We may have experienced the loss of loved ones, loss of a job, loss of good health, or the loss of things which were once so familiar and comfortable to us and which provided us with a sense of identity and belonging. Perhaps some of us are stretched to the limit in terms of how fast our lives have become. No doubt we are living in the wake of a certain kind of technological explosion which has left our ability to keep pace with it all lying in tatters.

So at this time of year the instinct to slow down, regroup and reassess our priorities seems like an appropriate one. It gives us time to think about how this journey of life is so fleeting, that the volume of stuff in our lives cannot really compete with the depth of the human experience, that to find the brakes and exert them may very well be one of the greatest challenges of our generation and our time. And so, the darkness of this season allows us to reflect on where we have been and where we are going and gives us the much needed pause to do this internal reflection. It also affords us the opportunity to count, not least of all, and even amongst all the losses, the bountiful blessings which this life and world continue to offer, to reflect on the gifts of those before us and who in turn invite us to consider being of service to others.

Finally, I’d like to thank the thousands of individuals who have “found a place for my music in their lives” and who continue to support and inspire me. I would also like to thank the many individuals in and outside of Quinlan Road who play or have played a very vital but often invisible role in bringing us all together. Their efforts are considerable and much appreciated and can in no way be underestimated. May the spirit of the season bring hope, love and renewal to you and those you hold dear.

Quinlan Road Community Update

We’re thrilled to announce that Loreena will once again be taking her music on the road when she embarks on the Loreena McKennitt Celtic Footprints Tour 2012 this coming spring. The tour presently launches March 17 and winds up April 25.

The 41-day, 11-country European tour will take Loreena back to some of her favourite countries, audiences and venues, while introducing a few new destinations along the way.

“I’m very much looking forward to heading back to Europe again,” says Loreena. “Since our last tour, we’ve recorded The Wind that Shakes the Barley, an album that includes songs that inspired me when I first discovered Celtic music, particularly those of Irish, Scots and English origin. We’re looking forward to performing some of those songs during the tour, along with other old-time favourites, plus pieces inspired by the Celts’ eastern roots.” Loreena will be accompanied on the tour by most of her long-standing complement of gifted musicians.

Tickets will be offered exclusively to members of the Quinlan Road Community beginning Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. local time in each country. These pre-sale tickets will be available for only 48 hours, until 10:00 a.m. local time Friday, Oct. 29. Box office ticket sales will then be open to the general public.
